Ingredients
Quantity: about 6 animals
- 180 grams unsalted butter
- 150 grams sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 300 grams flour
- Pinch of salt
- 20 grams plain chocolate
Instructions
- 1Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until these ingredients have been incorporated into the mixture.
- 2Add the flour and salt and mix until you have a firm dough. Shape the dough into a flat slab and wrap it in film; leave to rest in the fridge for at least one hour.
- 3Roll out the dough on a work surface that has been dusted with flour until it is 4 to 5 mm thick. Cut out the cookies and arrange them on a baking tray that has been lined with grease-proof paper. Arrange cookies of similar size next to each other on the same baking tray so that they bake evenly.
- 4Bake the large cookies for 10 to 12 minutes at 180 °C (top and bottom heat) or until the edges are golden brown. The small cookies only need 8 to 10 minutes at 180 °C.
- 5Put the plain chocolate into a disposable plastic piping bag and hang it in a glass of hot water to melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate has melted, cut a small tip off the piping bag.
- 6Decorate the animals as you like: you can give them eyes and mouths and anything else you like. Leave the chocolate to harden before assembling the animal cookies.
